PERSONAL THOUGHTS, MY DEAR
Why I don’t care about not getting a job at Accenture
It is really a dream come true situation when you finally get selected by your favourite company, attend the first day of your job, formally dressed up, meeting new people, and building new relations.
It is totally like drawing a new life journey on a blank canvas.
But wait, are you thinking, am I an experienced corporate job employee sharing his experiences
No dude. I’m a fresher. Lol!
Whole story short,
I got an on-campus drive opportunity from Accenture — one of the most admired service rendering companies in the fields of technology and solutions and ranking 258th on the Fortune Global 500 list.
By the way, my job role is “technology and application services associate” and I found it was predetermined when I got to fill up the registration form for the first time.
I came to know about a golden rule from my seniors which they always used to advice me about interviews,
“You must do your homework.”
Here homework means to research thoroughly about the company.
So, I sat down yesterday and began my research, upon digging I found many insights about the company
Well, tbh, I didn’t dig up the company’s past events such as accomplishments, incidents, etc.
I just read
- what type of company is it
- what are its motives and
- What kind of services it offers
I also thought to conduct a full-blown case study on it.
But let’s be honest
That’s a time-consuming task, in that time I could do what needs to be done.
Instead, I decided to crack the code of my job role, so I went to google and searched
“What kind of job role is a system and application services associate in Accenture".
Despite being powered by AI, one thing it cannot do is to accurately answer in that specific procedure that the user generally wants
But anyway, it gave the info regarding my job role
It was not different from my JD, same words, same complex spellings,
Leaving me more confused than enlightened.
But why fear when ChatGPT is here
Therefore, being not able to decode my JD, I went to ChatGPT for help, I must say it really gave me my desired output.
I even pasted my JD’s info and asked to decode it — here again, it showed me it was worthy.
I was even able to explain my mother about my job role with ease
Okay, enough AI talk, or you’ll start thinking this is another one of those AI articles.
Quora was a lifesaver, not gonna lie
I usually don’t use Quora that much,
yeah, I have an account, but yesterday it literally became my life saver
Being a fresher and not knowing how to navigate interviews can be nerve cracking, yeah It happens to me too, keeping yourself calm is the only option,
At least for now I guess. 😅
Well, I searched “what should a fresher do first if he/she finally goes to give the hr interview” on Google and landed on Quora.
Here’s the screenprint.
From there I got the best career advice, I came to know about
- how to act in a workplace,
- being punctual
- completing your task then reporting it promptly were the main highlights.
Luckily, I also came across this answer which gave me a sneak peek at what sort of work the company could assign me.
I come from a non-coding background (I guess that explains a lot)
So, I was a little worried whether they would ask me code-related questions in the interview or they are gonna assign me a work where programming skills are required, on the very first day of my job.
But I came to know, it was not the case that I imagined
This answer cleared 80% of my doubts, well It might differ in my case of mine, but let’s see what happens.
Final thoughts
Well, honestly, I don’t care whether I get into Accenture or not
What I care about is gathering the right knowledge and excel this interview, basically I want to enjoy it
As this is my first time going on an interview held by a top IT company of India and I don’t want to mess it up.
So, wish me luck, the official date of the interview is yet to come till then, let’s see what kind of other resources I’ll discover along the way.
What was your first interview experience?
Did you got selected in 1st chance? I guess it's not like that.
