ARTFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

I was really excited to try out Google’s new SGE but then this happened

Did you also face the same consequences?

So yesterday, at around 1.30 A.M., I couldn’t resist the urge to check whether Google’s SGE was finally available or not,

And yeah, it was there.

After finishing my work, I went to "Google Labs."

Well, it was a very daunting task for me—you ask why?

Because my eyes were begging me to sleep, they were cursing me in every language ever known to mankind—ha-ha, I know it’s cringe!

Anyways, I opened search labs and navigated downwards towards,

well, I forgot

As I was laser focused on enabling SGE

The enabling process was super easy,

An instant regret

I seriously regret now, that writing a 6-minute-long article on how to enable SGE on both desktop and mobile was a mistake

I despise writing tutorial articles, especially on technical topics! That’s heavy jargon over me.

The article is about 3 months old, and while writing and editing, it truly felt like a college lecture itself

A mixture of various sources and conflicting information— totally a mess.

Time to Test

Fast forward to the present — I enabled SGE smoothly this time and finally it was the time to test it out

As AI has been integrated into the search, we can now ask conversational questions, i.e., we don’t have to type specific keywords for our query.

I was really excited about this

The first question I asked was

“How can I publish an article every day on Medium and stay consistent”.

As you can see in the image below

Google intelligently took the data from those websites cited on the right panel

where else would it get it, right?

But the real excitement hit me when I clicked the “Converse button” on the top left corner.

It gave me ChatGPT and Bard vibes.

I could now chat directly with Google’s AI and clearly diversify my questions.

So I decided to throw a complex question to see if it would really respond a concise answer followed by a list of citations, like Bing AI.

But here, Google played something different

It was a follow-up question by the way.

You see, that’s what I like about Google, except the geography and alphabetical part, which I will disclose at the end

I must warn you

Never search “countries in Africa that start with the letter K” on Google. Don’t complain to me later that I haven’t warned you

Returning to the point, the second response that AI generated was awesome, and I loved it,

But then my heart got sank when I encountered this response.

Is there any limit to responses like it happens in Bing chat? where if the questions get too personal, the AI straightaway ignores them to answer its user

It really makes me furious sometimes

About 3–4 months ago, while I was testing Microsoft’s chatbot, it decided to clean the entire chat with its damn broom and told me

“Please begin a new conversation”.

What the hell!

Google’s receives positive feedback around the globe

Well, after successfully testing SGE, I went to Google’s blog to fetch some more insights.

It turns out that the new AI integration was being loved by all, as Google mentions, especially the younger audience around 18–25 years, who really enjoyed using the new follow-up questions on the go.

In the few months since launching generative AI in Search, we’re finding in our research that people are having a positive experience, and are using SGE for help with more complex queries and entirely new types of questions. We’re also seeing the highest satisfaction scores among younger users (18–24 year olds), who say they enjoy being able to ask follow-up questions conversationally.- Google

They really received positive feedback; people are saying SGE helped them tackle complex queries with ease.

The Bottom Line

Therefore, if you ask, How was the experience? It was good,

Hats off to Google for launching their brand-new feature here in India, I literally got the news a week later, after it was successfully launched.

If you’re from India, I would highly recommend you to give it a try.

If you run into any issues, bugs, or glitches, don’t hesitate to give feedback on them, as it will help the company look after the problem and they will try to fix it ASAP.

What type of questions did you asked the AI powered search?
