NEW MOVIE IN THE MARKET
M Night Shyamalan’s brand-new thriller that shouldn’t be missed
So, yesterday I was scrolling and reading my favorite stories on Medium, and I came across this article by Jay Sims named
According to the title, it seemed like a totally “top 10 facts” type of article about an old movie but when my eyes stumble upon the name Shyamalan, I suddenly started reading it with a peak interest.
On 2nd August 2024, M. Night Shyamalan released his new psychological thriller movie Trap, starring Josh Hartnett and Ariel Donoghue as the main leads of this movie.
The story is about a father and a daughter visiting a pop concert to enjoy their day until they realize they’ve dragged themselves into some serious sinister and dark event.
Now, after reading my short synopsis you might’ve thought that the film is all about how both of them will escape from that place safely, well that’s not the case at all, you know.
The actual plot of the movie can only be accessed and known when you see its trailer on YouTube. It is different from what we thought.
Again, I am not spoiling either the movie or its trailer. I suggest watching its trailer, as from my experience, you will surely feel the strong essence of a thriller watching it.
The trailer fully showcases the main plot of the film, who’s on the good or bad side, you will know but as it’s Mr. Shyamalan’s film, I think it’s better to be patient rather than expecting things beforehand.
Who knows what kind of plot twist might come across our faces?
My interest in Shyamalan’s films began to rise when I watched his Superhero trilogy — Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016), and Glass (2019). These 3 films are the best in class in presenting the existence of superhero beings and their impact on our society. From here my interest was piqued in his films.
While writing this article, I was collecting more info about Trap, I suddenly came across the user reviews on IMDb which were very disappointing to see and read.
In the user reviews section, the majority of the reviews about this movie were either negative or below average, with most of the people saying that the story’s execution was not really up to the mark and very unappealing, which was not expected from the director.
Many were saying that the story was good at the beginning but the end was not at all satisfying, many scenes were illogical and the dialogues were not good at all.
Well, these types of comments might influence one’s watching behavior, but one thing that I would like to suggest (which I’m also following) is not to judge any movie based on the comments it received online, it should be watched first whether it’s by you or me, then we should judge or critique it based on the performance it delivered us.
So, that’s my initial take on Trap movie, to be honest, I haven’t watched this movie yet but I will surely watch this movie soon
If there is someone who has finished watching, you’re welcome to share your feedback and thoughts in the comments below.
