Open AI released its brand new and giant LLM AI model “GPT-4”.
Open AI’s chatbot “chat GPT” which runs on GPT 3.5 engine which made a massive blast in the tech community of the world is now re-crafted and re-branded as GPT-4 which recently got released on 14th march, 2023 (one week ago).
Open AI’s CEO Sam Altman gave us a summary of their brand new AI “GPT-4”. He mentioned that “it accepts both image and text inputs, provides human-level performance on various professional and academic benchmarks. Though GPT-4 is less capable than humans in case of many real-world scenarios”, he added.
How could anybody have imagined that within 5–6 months they would have achieved such a milestone and even after the popularity of chat GPT (GPT-3.5)?
GPT-4 and its capabilities
So basically GPT-4 is the same as Chat-GPT, emitting texts as output, but the main line of difference which separates these two LLMs is the “Multimodal feature of GPT-4” as it accepts both image and text as inputs. It accepts up to 25,000 inputs of texts and provides output with greater context, accuracy, and creativity than GPT 3.5. It can handle complex instructions and can help humans to provide the best results on sales, content moderation, and programming ideas.
GPT-4 is not only capable of summarizing long-form texts into one sentence in just seconds but it can also receive inputs through alphabets like with “g” or with “q”.
And believe me, this newly born AI has far more linguistical capabilities than GPT 3.5, the current Chat GPT’s API.
In a casual conversation, the distinction between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 can be subtle. The difference comes out when the complexity of the task reaches a sufficient threshold — GPT-4 is more reliable, creative, and able to handle much more nuanced instructions than GPT-3.5.- OpenAI
Now, fellas, most of you have properly acknowledged the capabilities of GPT-4, so let me spice up your reading by letting you know it can be an alarming threat to our future employment.
On 15th March 2023, Machine learning engineer Rowan Cheung shared a screenshot of his interaction with GPT-4 on Twitter as he asked “Name 20 jobs that GPT-4 replace. Turn it into a chart form with number, job and human trait replaced” and it blatantly displayed a chart of 20 jobs that could replace in future.
The list includes the following:
These are the list of 20 jobs that AI will be able to replace.
1. Data Entry Jobs
2. Customer Service Representative
3. Proofreader
4. Paralegal
5. Bookkeeper
6. Translator
7. Copywriter
8. Market Research Analyst
9. Social Media Manager
10. Appointment Scheduler
11. Telemarketer
12. Virtual Assistant
13. Transcriptionist
14. News Reporter
15. Travel Agent
16. Tutor
17. Technical Support Analyst
18. Email Marketer
19. Content Moderator
20. Recruiter
This huge accomplishment news of Open AI reached the ears of our all-time tech giant, billionaire and recently made CEO of Twitter Mr. Elon Musk who reacted by twitting — “what will be left for us people to? We’d better get Neuralink going”.
Let me add this also,
One of the second most advanced capabilities of GPT 4 which took social media by storm is to generate code snippets and debug existing codes more effectively than GPT-3.5 which makes it a valuable resource for software developers. It can eventually decrease the workload of weeks into short hours.
Open AI’S Chairman Grey Brockman gave several examples about “how GPT-4 can improve the coding experience for developers”. He simply told the model that act as an “AI programming assistant” and gave it some proper prompts, then the model instantly created a discord bot within seconds. Though Discord updated its API recently in 2022 and GPT-4 was unaware of it.
Do not fear the future
Even though GPT-4 created a big bang in the tech world, it is still limited due to some of its configurations. As Greg acknowledged, “GPT-4’s language training is cut off after 2021”, which means it can only reach up to that cliff. Despite displaying a such huge number of jobs that can be replaced by AI, we shall not divert ourselves by seeing those outputs. AI is still in its early stages, and it is just the beginning, but it will gradually spread itself wider over the years, during that time we should develop ourselves and our skills in the fields where AI has no workspace. Many new jobs and opportunities will be created due to AI where mankind can be able to find out its livelihood again.
“GPT-4 has knowledge limitations but……, you can extend your knowledge and learnings as much as you want”.
